Attitude is often defined as our “settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, usually reflected in our behavior.” But what if your settled way of thinking about yourself, shaped by years of old stories, outdated beliefs, and self-doubt, softened into an attitude of appreciation, acknowledgment, and possibility?
As women, we often underestimate just how much personal power we truly possess. From childhood, we absorbed cultural messages that encouraged us to be humble, agreeable, and self-sacrificing and over time, those messages morphed into an unconscious habit of minimizing ourselves.
Have you been “discounting yourself”? You know… shrugging off your incredible accomplishments as if they were nothing, forgetting not only what you did but who you had to be to do it.
Perhaps someone compliments you on something remarkable you’ve achieved and you find yourself replying, “Oh, it was nothing. Anyone could’ve done it.”
Except… that’s not true.
It took courage to survive what you’ve survived. Determination to create what you’ve created. Heart to keep going. These life experiences have shaped you into the woman you are: wise, resilient and powerful. When we dismiss or downplay our achievements in career, home, volunteering, creativity, health, anywhere, we unconsciously drain our own life force and confidence.
Today, choose a new attitude: one of reverent appreciation for yourself. Celebrate your stories, your scars, your strength, and yes, your missteps too. They are not evidence of failure but proof of growth.
Honor the woman you’ve become. When you own your worth, you reclaim your power and ripples of possibility begin to flow into every corner of your life.
In celebration,
Elaine
